Charles, Chiefs Return to Practice in Kansas City

Jamaal Charles returned to the practice field for the first time since hurting his foot last Monday in St. Joseph.

(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) The Chiefs held their first practice of camp at the University of Kansas Hospital Training Complex on Sunday.

Running back Jamaal Charles returned to practice for the first time since suffering a foot strain last Monday in St. Joseph. The 2012 pro bowler said he still has soreness, but expects to play again in the preseason.

"I told the [trainer] that I can't just be waiting and waiting and waiting," he said. "I've got to get the reps and continue to see how I feel, whether it's getting better or worse."

Rookie right tackle Eric Fisher and tight end Travis Kelce did not participate. Fisher injured his shoulder in Friday's 15-13 loss to San Francisco. His replacement, Donald Stephenson, also left practice Sunday with a shoulder injury.

Kelce was held out with a knee bruise.

It was the first full practice since the team broke camp at Missouri Western last Wednesday.
