Chillicothe Man Cited for Animal Cruelty, Neglect

A Chillicothe man has been cited for 18 acts of animal cruelty and neglect after police discovered multiple animals without adequate food and water at his home.
(CHILLICOTHE, Mo.) A Chillicothe man has been cited for 18 acts of animal cruelty and neglect after police discovered multiple animals without adequate food and water at his home.

Police say they found several animals in "critically poor health conditions" at James Venneman's residence in Chillicothe. Police were called to the home in the 400 block of Elm Street on a report of animal neglect. An anonymous caller reported seeing a dead rabbit at the home. 

Chillicothe police say 16 rabbits and a dog were removed from the residence. Officials also said two decomposed rabbits were found at the house.
