Cold, Holidays Blamed for Most Depressing Day of the Year

January 6th is the most depressing day of the year according to a recent study.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Feeling a little blue? You're not alone. January 6th is the most depressing day of the year according to a recent study.

The study cites cold temperatures, the return to work after the holidays and finances after Christmas as reasons for feeling down.

Here locally, the Chiefs playoff collapse probably didn't help it.

Counselor Lisa Doyle sees seasonal depression often.

"My recommendation for people this time of year is to just try to do things to fool themselves as far as not focusing on the weather," Doyle said. "Leave all the lights on until 8, 9 o'clock."

Doyle said lights can affect your mood in a positive way.

She also recommends exercising to fight the winter blues.

A positive?

Spring is only two months away.
