Cold Season Brings Utility Assistance Programs

With bitterly cold temperatures on the way, MGE is reminding customers of several options available to customers this time of year to help with bills.
(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) With bitterly cold temperatures on the way, MGE is reminding customers of several options available to customers this time of year to help with bills.

The Average Bill Calculation plan is a free service that allows customers more consistent bill amounts. Customers can enroll by calling 1-800-582-1234.

The Cold Weather Rule is also in effect through March. The rule provides lenient payment plans for customers who have fallen behind on their accounts. Customers are allowed to keep gas service or restore service by making an initial payment, then paying a balanced monthly payment.

Heating assistance is also available to customers through the United Way. For more information on this program, call United Way 211.

MGE customers can also donate to the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program by clicking this link.
