Community Action Partnership Busy with Seasonal Assistance

The Community Action Partnership, or CAP for short, provides financial assistance for utility bills. They are especially busy this year with the cold temperatures.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The cold weather is here and that means a heavy case load for those providing utility assistance.

Community Action Partnership, or CAP, is one of those agencies in St. Joseph.

Since Oct. 1, CAP has processed 1,448 applications for assistance as part of its Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP.

The organization also has some applications pending because others have priority, meaning their heat has already been shut off.

"It's really important because as temperatures drop and money is scarce folks are really scrambling to ensure that their lights are on, their heat is on," said Gina Smith, outreach coordinator.

CAP receives funding from the federal government, but also takes private donations.

To make a donation, contact Gina Smith at gsmith@endpov.com or by calling (816) 344-5010.
