Conservation Department Reminds Hunters of Campfire Safety Tips

The Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding deer hunters to use caution when lighting campfires.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding deer hunters to use caution when lighting campfires.

Hunters are asked to prevent forest fires by always removing burnable material from around the fire, never leaving a fire unattended and always extinguishing fires completely.

Hunters are also reminded to not use firewood from outside of a region to prevent pests from causing ecological damage.

Conservation agents say you should always buy firewood in the area you are camping and make sure all the firewood is burnt before leaving the campsite.
