Court Ruling Could Put the Brakes on Red Light Cameras

The latest road block for the controversial cameras stems from a recent appeals court ruling involving a case from eastern Missouri.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A new court battle could put the brakes on red light cameras in Missouri.

The latest road block for the controversial cameras stems from a recent appeals court ruling involving a case from eastern Missouri.

The court ruled that a red light ordinance Ellisville, Mo., was not enforceable because it tickets the owner of a vehicle that runs a red light and not the driver.

The ruling is expected to be appealed to the Missouri Supreme Court.

No word on what the ruling means for St. Joseph's red light cameras.

Red light cameras are set up along two major intersections in St. Joe at Belt and Frederick and Belt and Cook.
