While in St. Joseph, General McDew learned the importance of the 139th to St. Joseph
"I've heard loud and clear how valuable they feel this is to the community, to the fabric of the community," McDew said. "Our airmen have invested in the community and the community in our airmen. It is easy to see."
McDew stressed that the Army and other armed services rely heavily on the support of the C-130 aircraft housed at Rosecrans.
McDew was touring five different air bases in three days.
He left St. Joseph Thursday afternoon, headed for another air base in Oklahoma.
