Area Students Give Back Needy in Community

A local group of students is giving back to the community and those less fortunate.
(St. Joseph, Mo.) Students at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School made fleece blankets and scarves for local homeless shelters.

The personal hygiene packets were one of several activities to celebrate community service week at the school.

School leaders say they teach students to follow the "beatitudes" by not only giving back to the community but servicing those who need it most.

"Well, it's very important to always understand that there are other people in need and it's our responsibility to help those who are less fortunate", says Darin Pollard, Principal at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School.

The scarves and blankets will be donated to the Salvation Army and the Noyes Home.

Students also made Valentine Day cards for area hospital patients.
