The Griffons (24-14 ,9-7 MIAA) picked up a game one victory 3-0, and were powered by a big second inning on the way to a 5-2 win in the final game of the night.
Senior pitcher Jackie Bishop was the winning pitcher in each contest tossing a total of 12 1/3 innings and giving up just two earned runs on eight hits, two walks and 17 strikeouts between the two games.
Junior Tiffany Gillaspy provided some fireworks for Missouri Western in the bottom of the first inning in the early game. Gillaspy hit a solo home run, her ninth of the season, to put the Griffs ahead 1-0.
They added a run on a Bre Fleschner RBI single in the fourth, and Michelle Stevenson drove in another on a fielder's choice in the fifth.
Bishop threw her 11th complete game shutout of the season in the win.
Western did all of its scoring in the second inning of game two.
Sydney Washington began the scoring with a sacrifice fly to left scoring Stevenson. Gillaspy followed with a two-RBI double one batter later, she came home on Brooke Schaben's two-run homer. The Griffons jumped on top 5-0, and didn't score the rest of the way.
Fort Hays (22-15, 11-7 MIAA) began to chip away at Bishop in the sixth inning with a pair of doubles to cut the deficit to three runs.
Janie Smith entered the game with one out in the sixth in relief of Bishop, and retired the final five batters to secure the win.
Missouri Western plays another doubleheader Saturday. The Griffons host Nebraska-Kearney with the first game starting at noon.
