Both Sides in Smoking Ban Debate Raising Campaign Funds

Smoke-Free St. Joe and Citizens for Fairness have each raised $7,000 for campaign efforts.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Both sides in St. Joseph's smoking ban debate are collecting cash for a campaign fight.

According to reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission, smoke free advocates and those against the smoking ban have each raised about $7,000.

Citizens for a Smoke Free St. Joe have collected the bulk of their money from Heartland Health and employees who work at the hospital.

Citizens for Fairness, the official name of the group formed opposing the ban, has raised most of its money from local bar and restaurant owners.

Both sides say we will see more active campaigning as we get closer to the April 8 election.
