Charges Filed Against Standoff Suspect

Domestic assault charges have been filed against a St. Joseph man after a domestic disturbance turned into a brief standoff Monday.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Domestic assault charges have been filed against a St. Joseph man after a domestic disturbance turned into a brief standoff Monday.

Joshua Almanza, 40, is charged with third degree domestic assault.
  
According to court records, Almanza grabbed his wife by the throat and threw her on a bed Monday morning. Police say he later grabbed knives and threatened to kill himself or others.
  
After police arrived, Almanza showed the knives and refused to be arrested. He later surrendered after officers surrounded the home on 2500 block of Jules.
