The win came for Reid in his return to Philadelphia. He spent 14 seasons with the Eagles winning 130 games -- he's now 3-0 with the Chiefs.
Things began to fall Kansas City's way after a three-and-out on the first possession of the game. Philly's Damaris Johnson muffed the fair catch, and Cyrus Gray hopped on it, and the Chiefs got a field goal from Ryan Succop after getting the ball back.
The Eagles next possession ended quickly when Michael Vick threw his first interception of the year. Derrick Johnson jumped the pass intended for Brent Celek, the ball went off his hands and right to Eric Berry. Berry returned it 38 yards for the touchdown. Kansas City forced two of Philadelphia's five turnovers less than four minutes into the game.
Philadelphia cut into the lead later in the first quarter on a touchdown pass from Vick to Jason Avant. Eagles head coach Chip Kelly elected to attempt the two-point conversion -- something his wasn't shy about doing while coaching the Oregon Ducks -- but was stopped short, and Kansas City led 10-6.
The Chiefs added a pair of field goals in the second quarter, the second set up by a Sean Smith interception.
Jamaal Charles scored Kansas City's final touchdown sealing a win early in the fourth quarter. He carried it in from three yards out to open a 23-9.
Charles finished with 92 rush yards on 20 carries, and caught seven passes for 80 yards.
Donnie Avery led Kansas City in receiving hauling in seven passes for 141 yards.
Alex Smith continued to lead a turnover-free offense passing for 278 yards on 22-35 passing.
The Chiefs now have until Sunday, September 29th to prepare for their next opponent -- the New York Giants.
