Chiefs, Missouri Western Agree on Tentative Camp Start Date

The Chiefs enter their fifth year of training camp in St. Joseph.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) More than two months before the Chiefs first preseason football game, the team's eying the start to its fifth year of training camp in St. Joseph.

Missouri Western Athletic Director Kurt McGuffin says the anticipated date for Kansas City's first practice is July 24.

The Chiefs are entering the final guaranteed year of their contract with Missouri Western to hold training camp on campus, with five one-year options remaining.

McGuffin says everything he's heard from the organization is positive.

"They say that this is the best place. The customer service, what we provide to them is second-to-none. And I think what's nice about it is Coach Reid, who's been other places, said this is the best place he's ever had camp. I think that bodes well for us."

McGuffin expects the Chiefs to release a full training camp schedule soon.

Kansas City opens its preseason schedule August 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
