(BURLINGTON JUNCTION, Mo.) Two men who led authorities to three suspects in a bank robbery are being honored for their efforts.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Nodaway County Sheriff's office recognized Zealand Robert "Bobby" Smith, of Elmo, and Kevin Rankin, of Maryville, recently.

Smith witnessed the bank robbery in Burlington Junction in March. He called Nodaway County Sheriff Darren White, then followed the suspects.

The information he shared with authorities about the suspects' location was passed on to Rankin, who manages the Maryville Municipal Airport.

Rankin was able to track the suspects from the air and communicate their location to authorities.

The Highway Patrol stated that the assistance from Smith and Rankin likely led to the arrests.

Smith received an Honorary Trooper Certificate. Rank received a Certificate of Achievement.
