City Crews Fill Hundreds of Potholes

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) In what's been a busy winter around the country, more potholes have popped up locally. The city reports they have filled 570 potholes since January 1.

The St. Joseph City Streets Department has used the nicer weather to fill potholes that are popping up around the city.

They have also used 40 tons of hot patch and between 8 and 10 tons of cold patch to fill holes.

Assistant streets superintendent Keven Schneider said the city keeps in-depth reports for filling potholes.

"We record up to how many shovels we put in each one," he said. "It's a quick little notation and we can track really closely the amounts we use and see trends develop on a certain area of town, a certain street, that sort of thing."

Schneider said to keep in mind, they were unable to fill potholes for three weeks because of snow on the ground.

The city said to call 816-271-4848 to report a pothole in city limits.

You can also report them online.
