City Works to Upgrade Playground Equipment

The city is working to upgrade playground equipment at city parks
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The City of St. Joseph is working to upgrade playground equipment at city parks. The city says they've updated the playgrounds at Krug, Hyde and Hochman parks but says they're still working to replace the set at Bartlett Park.

The playground has been in place since the 80s. The city says it's outdated and no longer meets the standards of the Americans With Disabilities Act.

"After 20 or 30 years, these playgrounds not only get dangerous but things happen to them, you can't get parts for something that was built in 1980. We need to get it out of there," stated Bill McKinney, director of parks, recreation, and civic facilities for the city of St. Joseph.

No word yet on when construction will begin.
