Teams of two, pair off to win the grand prize in categories such as the most fish caught, the largest fish caught, and the biggest catch overall.
Winners also get bragging rights, a photo with their fighter fish, and a place on the fisherman wall of fame.
"You can win a couple hundred bucks out here in a few hours. I ain't winning nothing my brother's winnin' it all down there in the corner," said competitive fisher, Marty Bower.
"Five hours and thirty minutes and I caught my first carp, and it was around fifteen pounds," said first timer Sherri Beckett.
A Missouri fishing license is not required to participate in the competition.
Once the totals are calculated most throw the fish back into the lake.
