Democrat Announces Run for County Commissioner

St. Joseph resident Mike Veale announced that he would be running for County Commissioner at a press conference at the Buchanan County Courthouse on Thursday.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) St. Joseph resident Mike Veale announced that he would be running for Buchanan County Commissioner at a press conference on Thursday.

The Lafayette High School grad grew up in St. Joseph and is a community leader and pipe fitter. Veale said attracting jobs to the county would be his most important issue if elected.

"I realize what a great community we've got here and I feel like I've got something that I can add to the community," he said.

Veale has been a member of many organizations over the years, including the United Way and NAACP.

Al Purcell and Harry Roberts are also running for Commissioner, a position that current Commissioner RT Turner is retiring from.

The primary vote is in August, while the main vote will be in November.
