Dexter's Attack Overpowers Benton in Class 4 Semifinals

Lady Cardinals can't overcome long scoring droughts, lose to Dexter 54-21 at Mizzou Arena.
(ST. JOSEPH) Defense had been Benton's calling card all season, but they didn't have an answer for Dexter's offense on Friday.

Hannah Noe scored a game-high 18 points while Paige Patterson had 16 as Dexter defeated Benton 54-21 in the Class 4 semifinals at Mizzou Arena.

Making their third state appearance in program history, Benton carried a 10-game win streak into their meeting with the Lady Bearcats. Falling behind 6-5 after four minutes, Brett Goodwin's team wouldn't score for the next eight minutes.

Dexter took advantage of the drought, grabbing a 29-9 lead after the first half.  Benton would fail to score again until Mallory McAndrews hit a three for her first points of the game with 4:33 to go in the third quarter. That was Benton's only make out of eight attempts from beyond the arc.

Morgan Domann led the Lady Cardinals with nine points, while Daejah Bernard added five.  Overall, Benton shot 8 for 38 from the floor.

They will face Marshfield in the third place game Saturday at 11 a.m.
