Semi Takes out Hydrant, Floods Downtown Business

St. Joseph Police are looking for the semi-trailer that hit a fire hydrant, causing significant water damage to a nearby business.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.)  A downtown St. Joseph business' basement is flooded out after a semi-trailer hits a nearby fire hydrant.

It happened around 5 p.m. at the corner of 6th and Edmond St. in front of Jim's One Stop Shop used furniture store.

While trying to make a right turn, the semi-trailer took the corner too tight, striking the hydrant.

The damage caused an underground water leak that caused water to pour into the basement of the store.

St. Joseph Public Works crews and Missouri-American Water crews worked through the evening to contain the water and stop the leak.

Police are still looking for the semi-trailer that caused the accident.
