EPA Allows Demolition of Grain Elevator to Continue

EPA officials raised concerns last week after learning crews were taking pieces of the building away to the dump without proper testing.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The EPA is allowing the demolition of an abandoned grain elevator south of downtown St. Joseph to continue.

The demolition of the building, owned by HPI Industries, has hit several snags over the past year due to possible contamination at the site.

EPA officials raised concerns last week after learning crews were taking pieces of the building away to the dump without proper testing.

The EPA says the demolition work can continue after talking with HPI and the city.
