Garnett Places Career-Best Seventh at Shell Houston Open

Gallatin native Brice Garnett finishes in five-way tie for seventh in 13th PGA Tour event.
(HUMBLE, Texas) With a final round score of 69, former Missouri Western golfer Brice Garnett obliterated his previous-best 19th-place finish on Sunday.

The Gallatin, Mo. native was part of a five-way tie for seventh at 8 under par in the Shell Houston Open.

In his 13th career PGA Tour Event, the rookie's company included Rory McIlroy, Russell Henley, Ryan Palmer, and Retief Goosen. He placed higher than the likes of Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood after rounds of 68, 71, and 72 leading into Sunday.

The 30-year-old now sits 86th in the FedEx Cup Standings as his career earnings have hit $412,408.

Matt Jones edged Matt Kuchar in a playoff to win Sunday's finale after tying at 15 under par.
