Emporia State proved too talented as three Hornets finished in double figures in a 69-52 win over the Griffons on Wednesday.
ESU (15-0, 6-0) never trailed after the Griffons' opening bucket but were held to their second-lowest point total of the season. Kionna Kellogg posting a game-high 15 points along with 10 rebounds as the Hornets shot just under 45 percent from the field. Amber Vandiver also posted a double double with 11 points and 12 boards.
The Griffons (5-7, 1-5) got 14 points and seven rebounds from Quinesha Lockett. Jallisa Lewis added 10 points as the team shot 37 percent. MWSU tied it twice in the first half, starting with an 8-0 run in the first half to make it 17-17, but couldn't jump on top.
Rob Edmisson's team has now lost seven of its last eight dating back to Nov. 29th.
