Group Begins Park Clean Up

A St. Joseph pastor's vision for a city park was put into action Saturday.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A St. Joseph pastor's vision for a city park was put into action Saturday.

Volunteers from several area churches worked to clean up Riverfront Park. The effort stems from Restoration Church Pastor Tim Doyle's idea to clean up an historical area of town.

Organizers plan on making the clean-ups regular events with hopes of bringing the park back to what it once was.

"There's been a lot of thought and a lot of plannings and meetings in St. Joe from a lot of different people about what to do at the riverfront," Davis Madison from Restoration Church said. "We're just trying to bring it back to what it was so maybe people can get some use out of it again."

Many of the volunteers are Restoration Church members but the plan has inspired others to take part.

"I just think, as a long time resident of St. Joseph, it's an important part of our community's story. It's a place St. Joseph residents ought to be proud of and we just want to help make it something we can be proud of," Wyatt Park Christian Pastor Scott Killgore said.
