(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) For the third consecutive night, St. Joseph's offense blasted its opponent's pitching in a 13-8 win over Sedalia.
Five different Mustangs (25-8, 19-8 MINK) had at least three hits led by Shane Segovia, who went 4-5 with two RBI upping his batting average to .353.
St. Joe's right fielder, Jordan Guida, went 3-5 driving in four runs, three of the RBI came in the first two innings.
The Mustangs held a 10-1 lead after the third inning, and did not score again until the eighth inning with RBI singles from Patrick Burkhart, Tim Caputo and an RBI double from Jake Kretzer.
Over the past three games, St. Joe has scored a combine 39 runs.
St. Joseph's starting pitcher, Cody Cunningham, only allowed one unearned run through the first five innings.
The sixth inning was Cunningham's last after Sedalia scored four runs, just three earned, in the frame.
The Texas native tied a season-high with four walked batters, while striking out three in the win. Cunningham's now 6-0 with a 1.69 ERA in league play.
The Mustangs go back on the road to Clarinda Thursday after sweeping a brief, two-game home stand.
