Hiawatha's Newell Selects Nebraska

Number two-ranked prospect in Kansas announces he will play for the Cornhuskers.
(HIAWATHA, Kan.) Hiawatha senior Peyton Newell announced his decision to commit to Nebraska in an assembly at Hiawatha High School on Friday.

The 6-8, 280-pound defensive tackle had received 34 Division I offers as the number two-ranked prospect in the state. He had narrowed his choices down the Cornhuskers, Kansas, Kansas State, and South Carolina leading up to the announcement.

Newell said he verbally committed to Nebraska during the program's "Big Red Weekend" back in June.

He begins his senior season with Hiawatha next Friday hosting Perry-Lecompton.
