Kastner Stable after Collapsing at Baseball Game

Bishop LeBlond athletic director and baseball coach Greg Kastner was taken to Heartland after collapsing during a game Monday.
(ST. JOSEPH) Bishop LeBlond athletic director and head baseball coach Greg Kastner is in stable condition after collapsing during the Eagles' baseball game at Missouri Western on Monday afternoon.

Kastner spun around and quickly fell while coaching at third base in the second inning of LeBlond's game with University Academy. He remained on the ground for several minutes but was moving his hands and speaking.

He sat up briefly before being taken off the field on a stretch and placed into an ambulance. He was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center shortly after. He was there late Monday night receiving tests before being released.

It's not yet confirmed what caused Kastner to collapse. The game resumed shortly before his departure as assistant coach Wayne Miller assumed Kastner's duties. LeBlond defeated University Academy 19-3.

Kastner plans to be at Wednesday's Class 3, District 16 championship game against Maryville.
