Local Girl Scout Troop Raises Money for Boy Battling Cancer

An area Girl Scout Troop is raising money for a 4-year-old boy battling cancer.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A local girl scout troop is aiming to help a young boy beat cancer.

Troop 3470 spent most of Saturday, outside Big Lots in St. Joseph, selling cookies for Connor.

Connor is a 4-year-old boy, from St. Joseph, who has been diagnosed with stage four Hepatoblastoma Liver Cancer.

Girl Scouts' motto is 'building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.'

Troop leaders said they followed that motto by donating all proceeds from today's cookie sale to Connor's family.

"Just to take some of the pressure off of them. They're dealing with a lot. He's 4 years old, stage four cancer. My heart goes out to the family. We just hope we can help someway, with medical bills, whatever they need," said Marlee Pendleton, Troop Leader.

There will be a zumba fundraiser for Connor on Friday, March 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Wild Man Fitness in St. Joseph.
