Locals Sign Up For Obamacare as Deadline Looms

Northwest Health Services helped the public navigate through the Affordable Care Act on Saturday just a few days before the deadline to enroll.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Time is quickly running out to sign up for Obamacare before the March 31 enrollment deadline.

On Saturday, an area organization stepped up efforts to help locals sign up.

Counselors from Northwest Health Services met with people throughout the day for free assistance at Northwest Family Dental.

"We are enrolling people throughout the week, so we have open spots still," said Mary Hubbard, an enrollment specialist. "You might call us to see if you can get in, but other than that this is our last Saturday event."

The process took only about thirty minutes and counselors determined the best plan for individuals.

About 25 people were able to fully enroll as part of the process.

"It's very confusing and I really had no idea what it was about so it was really helpful," said Ashley Nold, a woman that signed up for Obamacare on Saturday.

Northwest Health Services said if you wait until the 31st, it may be too late.

It takes a couple days for insurance to go through, meaning the best time to enroll is this upcoming week.
