Losing Weight With Busy Schedule

Many of us struggle with losing weight, especially while juggling a busy schedule. As hundreds take the pound plunge in St. Joseph -- KQ2's Carla Fields set out on a personal mission of her own.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) We all know we should exercise and eat healthy to keep our weight in check but sometimes things don't go as planned.

Losing weight has been a struggle since having a major knee surgery a few years back.

Nothing changed in my diet or lifestyle but the weight came on.

I finally decided to do something about it with a little help during the Annual Pound Plunge that's underway in St. Joseph.

Experts at Heartland say when it comes to exercise, every little bit counts.

"Not only is it going to help with weight loss, it's going to help you maintain weight loss once you reach your goal weight," says Jessica Anderson, registered and licensed
Dietitian at Heartland.

It's been a month since I started and already I'm down 6 pounds.

While most want to see significant weight loss in a hurry, Anderson says it takes time.

"Every day is a new day and I'm stronger than the day before and I also like to think that I'm passing people who are sitting on the couch. Doesn't matter how slow I walk or how slow I run or how little I lift-- I'm doing better than the people who aren't doing anything," added Anderson.

That's why advice from a personal trainer can help hold you accountable.

Some need that extra push.

"We look at all of the things that people want out of a personal training session so weight loss muscle building any of that stuff and then we personalize it for each person," says Heather Hausman, personal trainer at Heartland.

Also - remember to keep it small.

Something as simple as taking the stairs instead of the elevator can make a difference.
