Luncheon Welcomes New Teachers, Staff in St. Joseph

The event marked the 34th year of honoring new teachers in St. Joseph's public and parochial schools.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.)  The women's division of the Chamber of Commerce hosted the new teachers luncheon Tuesday at the Moila Shrine Temple.

The event marks the 34th year of honoring new teachers in St. Joseph's public and parochial schools.

It also recognizes new faculty at Missouri Western State University and Vatterott College.

"This is our opportunity to show the new teachers in St. Joseph that we appreciate all they're going to be doing this coming year. And we know that they will enjoy St. Joseph," said Lisa Little.

The luncheon is an opportunity for incoming teachers and staff to get to know their peers.

"It's just awesome how they got us together. It's just like a big family, how they treat us.  And they're so nice, everyone is very, very welcoming," said Jill Crouse, Webster Elementary School.

"Just to hear, you know, like that we're going into the profession of people development, you know, just really makes you feel like, you know, you're doing something with a lot of purpose," added Taylor Kennedy, Pickett Elementary School.

Schools in St. Joseph will see a total of 95 new teachers and 14 new staff and faculty members this year.
