(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) Missouri Gas Energy customers will pay less for their natural gas.

The Missouri Public Service Commission and MGE came to an agreement in a rate case that lowers the fixed monthly delivery charge for residential customers by 23 cents per month.

Starting in May, the rate will drop from $28.10 to $27.87.

The new rate will remain in effect until October.

According to the Missouri Public Service Commission, at that time the monthly charge for a residential customer will go to $23.00 a month.

MGE filed a rate increase in September seeking an increase in annual natural gas revenues of approximately $23.4 million.

Under the agreement, annual natural gas revenues will increase by approximately $7.8 million.

MGE, which is owned by Laclede Gas Company, serves about 500,000 natural gas customers in Missouri.
