Missing Nebraska Teens Could Be in St. Joseph Area

The Lincoln Police Department issued an alert for Racheal Bates, 16, and Samantha Zuerlein, 16, Monday. Police say the girls have been in contact with friends. They claim to be in the St. Joseph area.
(LINCOLN, Neb.) Police in Lincoln, Neb. say two missing endangered teenagers could be in the St. Joseph area.

The Lincoln Police Department issued an alert for Racheal Bates, 16, and Samantha Zuerlein, 16, Monday. Media reports out of Lincoln stated that the girls know each other and left together.

Bates has been missing since March 9. Zuerlein has been missing since March 15.

Katie Flood, Public Information Officer for the Lincoln Police Department, said police learned Monday that the girls have been in contact with friends. They claim to be in the St. Joseph area.

Bates is described as 4'8" and 140 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes. Her hair has green highlights and bangs. She also has cuts and scars on her arms. 

Zuerlein is 5'6" and 245 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has scars on her arms and thighs, including a fusion scar on her lower back.

Police say they could be traveling in a 1997 silver, four-door, Lincoln Continental with a Nebraska plate SBX421.
