MoDOT Reveals List of Projects Transportation Tax Will Fund

The list includes 135 projects in the northwest Missouri region.
(JEFFERSON CITY) - Missouri voters now know exactly where their money will go when they vote on a transportation tax in August.

MoDOT revealed the list of projects approved by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission Wednesday.

The list includes 135 projects in the northwest Missouri region.

The majority of the $4.8 billion in transportation projects are for roads and bridges.

In Buchanan County, more than $1 million would be set aside for the St. Joseph public transportation system.

More than $5 million dollars would be spent to improve the I-29/Route DD interchange in Faucett.

"One of the most impressive things about this list is the expanse of work it covers and the real, tangible value you can see for your money," said MoDOT Director Dave Nichols. "It includes resurfacing thousands of miles of roads, improving ports, railroads and airports, and even provides additional OATS service throughout rural regions of the state."

Voters will decide on August 5 whether to pass a 3/4 of a cent sales tax to pay for the projects.

The tax would sunset in 10 years
