Three buildings on campus will see construction and renovation.
At the Looney Sports Complex, crews will remodel baseball locker rooms as well as renovate the men's and women's visitor locker rooms.
At Potter Hall, which houses music and fine arts, a new percussion space will be built in addition to new office space and restrooms. For the past several years, percussion students have been practicing in a temporary modular unit set up behind the building.
The Wilson Hall project will include renovation of some restrooms and upgrades to the heating and cooling unit.
University staff say the updates come in at a good price, about $500,000 less than expected.
"It was quite a savings and we also added some additional things like the circle drive and some restroom renovation for Potter Hall, said Cale Fessler, Vice President of Financial Planning for Missouri Western. "We were really able to get a good bang for our buck I think."
Construction will begin next month with most of the work finished by fall.
The Board of Governors accepted the bid of $750,509 from Lee Grover Construction of St. Joseph. It was the lowest of the seven bids submitted.
