Nixon Takes the Race for Missouri Governor

Missouri voters have re-elected Gov. Jay Nixon for his second term. He defeated out Republican Dave Spence 980,576, to 865,637 with 2,410 of 3,380 precincts reported.
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) Gov. Jay Nixon has been elected to his second term as Governor of Missouri.

The Democrat defeated Republican candidate Dave Spence.This is the first time an incumbent in the race has been reelected in 16 years.

In polls leading up to Tuesday's election, Nixon had been leading the race with a 9-point lead over Spence.

Prior to becoming Governor, Nixon was elected to a record four terms as Missouri's Attorney General.

Nixon is the 55th Governor in Missouri.
