Nor-Am Announces $8.5 Million Expansion in St. Joseph

The expansion is expected to add 10 new, full-time jobs at the facility.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A family-operated business has announced an $8.5 million expansion that includes new jobs in St. Joseph.

Nor-Am Ice and Cold Storage, LLC is adding 72,000 square feet to the refrigerated warehouse located at 2700 Stockyards Expressway.

The expansion is expected to add 10 new, full-time jobs.

Nor-Am worked with the City of St. Joseph and Buchanan County to obtain an interest-free, forgivable loan for training new employees and in-kind assistance at Nor-Am. The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce also announced Tuesday that the City is expected to adopt an Enhanced Enterprise Zone resolution for real property tax abatement next month.

Nor-Am selected local contractor Al J. Mueller Construction for the project along with other local sub-contractors.

"With those dollars staying in the local market, the economic impact to St. Joseph will be greater than our $8.5 million dollar investment," stated Scott Albers, Vice President of Operations at Nor-Am.

The company also received incentives from KCP&L and the state's Missouri Works program.
