Northwest Draws Winona State in NCAA Tournament Opener

Bearcats will face NSIC runner-up on Saturday in Mankato, Minn.
(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Last season, a three-point loss in the MIAA Championship Game kept Northwest from the NCAA Tournament. The Bearcats didn't get a second straight shot at the conference tournament crown, but there is still basketball ahead.

Northwest has earned the fifth seed in the NCAA Tournament's Central Regional and will open play at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday against fourth-seeded Winona State. Minnesota State-Mankato will host the regional as the top seed after beating Winona State in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament finale.

The Warriors hold a 26-7 record and are making their ninth appearance in the NCAA Tournament over the last ten years. It's their tenth berth overall.

Northwest (22-8) will play in their fifth tournament over the last decade. Regional play will go from March 15th through the 18th.
