(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Northwest had little trouble pushing their win streak to eight straight in the MIAA, blowing out Lincoln 92-59 in front of another raucous Bearcat Arena crowd on Saturday.
The game had a single-digit spread throughout most of the first half before Northwest (16-5, 11-1) grabbed a 41-30 lead at halftime. Five Bearcats finished in double figures, led by Grant Cozad with 16 points. Conner Crooker poured in 15, while Dillon Starzl added 13.
Northwest outscored the Blue Tigers (2-18, 0-12) by 22 points in the second half, shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor while knocking down 8 of 13 three point attempts. Lincoln's James Edmond posted a game-high 25 points.
The Bearcats bench also played a big role, outscoring Lincoln's 43-13.
Lincoln Women 47, Northwest 55
(MARYVILLE, Mo.) After picking up their first road victory of the season, the Northwest women were trying to conquer another first on Saturday: two consecutive wins.
Clinging to a single-digit lead throughout the second half, the Bearcats held off Lincoln to complete the feat with a 55-47 win.
Lincoln (3-16, 0-12) exchanged leads with Northwest four time in the first half, but found themselves down by four at the break.
Northwest (7-12, 4-8) led by as many as nine in the final 20 minutes, fueled by a game-high 22 points from Ariel Easton. Tember Schechinger finished 10 points, while Shelby Mustain controlled the paint with six blocks.
The Blue Tigers got within five, but five late Northwest free throws kept them at bay.
The Bearcats host Missouri Western on Wednesday as the women tip first at 5:30 p.m.
