Students from Pershing Elementary School made the trip to Jefferson City regarding their proposed legislation that would make jumping jacks the official exercise of Missouri. This is the fourth year the students have campaigned for the exercise.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Students from Pershing Elementary School are at it again.

Several students from the school attended a hearing on Thursday in Jefferson City regarding their proposed legislation that would make jumping jacks the official exercise of Missouri.

The exercise was invented by Missouri-born General John J. Pershing as a drill exercise for West Point cadets when he was stationed in Missouri during the late 1800s.

The bill's sponsor and State Rep. Pat Conway briefed the students prior to the hearing regarding the bill.

This will be the fourth year Pershing students have campaigned for the exercise.
