Personnel Reductions Possible at Fort Leavenworth

The U.S. Army is surveying force reductions at bases around the country.
(LEAVENWORTH, Kan.) The United States Army is surveying possible force reductions at bases across the country, including Fort Leavenworth.

Public comment can be made on the studies that look at the potential impact of the reductions.
According to the study, Leavenworth could see a total population reduction of over 6,000 people with more than 2,000 soldiers removed.
The study says any changes would likely be made between 2015 and 2020.
Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and Fort Riley in Kansas were also included in the study.
