Police Investigate Connection Between Body Found, Missing Man

An autopsy is planned for this afternoon to learn more about the body found at Wyeth Hill on Thursday morning.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Police are now investigating a possible connection between a missing St. Joseph man and a body found this week.

Capt. Jeff Wilson said an autopsy is planned for this afternoon to learn more about the body found at Wyeth Hill on Thursday morning.

He said they have notified the family of William Paige, Jr., 57, that there is a strong possibility that the remains found could be Paige.

"Based on our investigation at this time, we are looking at that, but nothing is confirmed," said Capt. Wilson.

Police said tips that surfaced during their investigation led investigators to the body at Wyeth Hill.

His family and friends became concerned when he said he was going to visit a relative out of town, but never arrived. Police issued an alert for Paige on Wednesday.

"We're all worried and he just needs to come home so we can get after him," his daughter Shalon Paige said on Thursday.

Friday Shalon said, "You don't want it to be because you're just like that's something you don't want to deal with but at the same time that would mean that it's over. You just have to go with every single thing every single day."

Police could not reveal any information about the condition of the body. Capt. Wilson said he could not say at this time if foul play was involved.
