(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Three St. Joseph men face charges after an officer was allegedly hit in the face with a beer bottle while trying to break up a party.

Police arrested Miguel Villegas, 32, of St. Joseph, Jose Rodriguez-Delgado, 22, of St. Joseph and Luis Oliveras, 21, of St. Joseph Sunday morning at a gathering on Angelique Street.

Police say officers responded to a call of loud music at the home at 2509 Angelique and asked everyone to leave.

When one of the officer's attempted to arrest a woman at the scene, a fight broke out.

Police say two officers were then surrounded by a "hostile crowd."

One man allegedly hit an officer with a beer bottle and punched him several times in the face.

Additional officers were called to the scene and police say while they took the suspects into custody, others at the gathering threw rocks at the arresting officers.

The three men who were arrested now face charges of assault on a law enforcement officer.

Two others were ticketed for violating the city's noise ordinance.

The injured officer was treated and released.
