Police Seek Information on Possible Illegal Fireworks

St. Joseph police say they need the public's help after more than one call of a loud boom in the city's north side.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) St. Joseph police say they need the public's help in pinpointing the origin of a loud boom reported in the north part of town.

Sgt. Todd Derr said officers responded to calls of a loud explosion near the area of Washington Avenue and St. Joseph Avenue around 7 p.m. Sunday. He confirmed that officers received a similar call in the same neighborhood Saturday night. KQ2 also received several reports of the explosion from as far away as N. 22nd and Lovers Lane.

According to Sgt. Derr, the noise is most likely coming from an illegal firework, but officers have not been able to pinpoint the exact location.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Joseph Police Department at 816-271-4777.
