Pride Festival Brings Awareness, Support in St. Joseph

The St. Joseph Community showed their pride at the 2nd Annual St. Joseph Pride Festival.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Part of downtown St. Joseph was transformed over the weekend as hundreds came together for the 2nd Annual Pride Festival.

The festival kicked off Friday with more than 800 people but Saturday, many were in attendance to take part in activities and join the parade.

Senator Jolie Justus was also in attendance to show her support.  Justus is an advocate for LGBT issues. She works to fight discrimination.

"St. Joe's a great city and the city has backed us like, a ton.  We've had so many sponsors, so many outreach of people that want to help next year, how can I be involved, this is so awesome," said Pride Board Vice President Tyson Huff-Garza.

The St. Joseph Pride Board is already planning next year's Pride Festival and volunteers are eager to help.  The festival is held during the third weekend in June every year.
