PTA Delivers Frozen Treats to Help Kids Beat the Heat

PTA members from schools with air conditioning delivered popsicles to students at the schools without in St. Joseph Friday.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Schools across the area wrapped up their first week back Friday and for some students the heat made things a little uncomfortable.

They did catch a break, though, thanks to some PTA groups paying it forward.

PTA members from schools with air conditioning delivered ice pops to students at the schools without.

Hyde Elementary was one of five schools without air conditioning treated on Friday. Kids at Humboldt, Hall, Edison and Mark Twain also received the special delivery.

The PTA thought it would be nice to offer a little relief as the temperatures soared into the 90s.

"There's no comparison to the air conditioning that we have at Skaith. My kids are very fortunate to have that air conditioning. I wish that every kid in the school district had it. So, we're just bringing over some coolness for them. It's our way of sharing with them," said Jennifer Rhoad, Skaith PTA.

The PTA paid for the treats. They plan to deliver more next week.
