REMSA Board Reviews Preliminary Budget for Ambulance Service

The board got its first look at preliminary budget figures during a meeting Thursday to discuss the transfer of service from Heartland to the county.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Buchanan County's new ambulance board is getting a better idea about how much the new service will cost.

The board got its first look at preliminary budget figures during a meeting Thursday to discuss the transfer of service from Heartland to the county.

Initial numbers put the cost of running the ambulance service at nearly $6 million.

The look of the ambulance also came up for discussion.

"We're looking at maybe instead of going with REMSA, possibly using Buchanan County EMS," said Buchanan County Commissioner RT Turner.

Voters in November passed a half cent sales tax to pay for the new county run ambulance service known as REMSA.
