The agency is now accepting applications for Christmas assistance.

People who qualify get help with food and toys for kids during the holiday season. Last year, the Salvation Army helped more than 200 families, providing gifts and necessities for more than 500 children.

Captain Dana Cook with the Salvation Army said, "That (number of families) might be the same this year, it might be more it might be less, we do not know, but we are going to be ready for it, and we always know that the community will help us."

The Salvation Army is accepting applications Monday through Friday, 9:00 am until noon.

The agency will accept applications until the last Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
