Search Continues for Man Suspected of Stealing Police Car

A stolen KCPD vehicle was found on Interstate 35 about 20 miles north of Cameron on Wednesday morning. The suspect is still at large.
(PATTONSBURG, Mo.) A man suspected of stealing a police car is on the run in northwest Missouri and authorities say he is considered armed and dangerous.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol released a photo of Joshua Boyd, 30, Wednesday morning. Kansas City police believe he stole a police cruiser from an officer overnight. The car had a shotgun inside.

Troopers say Boyd drove the car north on Interstate 35 where it was found abandoned about 20 miles north of Cameron.

According to KMBC, police originally responded to a call about an emotionally disturbed person. That man, they say, jumped into one of two cars that responded.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are in the area where the car was abandoned searching for the suspect by land and air. He is 5'10" and weighs approximately 170 pounds. Boyd has brown hair, a mustache and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and khaki shorts.

If you see the man, you're advised to call 911 immediately. Troopers urge the public to remove keys from vehicles and make sure their homes are secure.
